Colors for chart widget not preserving settings
Hi all!
I am fairly new to Smartsheet but have been taking training where I can to get up to speed. I'm stuck on one particular issue and I'm hoping someone can help.
I set up a couple of donut chart widgets to track task status for a couple of sub-projects. These charts get data from a metrics sheet I set up. The idea is to simply show the % of project tasks that are in these four categories and use the colors that I've indicated.
Complete (blue)
On Track (green)
At Risk (yellow)
Off Track (red)
If you look at the attached screenshot you'll see my issue. In the top chart, there are no project tasks currently in "Off Track" status, so the metrics sheet has it at 0%. The chart widget then decides on its own, somehow, to change the color of "On Track" from green to red. This is obviously very misleading as red is for bad, not good things.
Is there any way around this issue that I'm missing? Thank you!

If you enter "dummy data" into the metrics sheet that will show a number above 0 for each status, you can adjust the colors on the widget, reset the data to reflect an accurate count, and when the count changes, the colors you specified should remain. I do this regularly.

This problem is killing me. The irony might be I am blind to the work-around, or the fix. Can anyone help here? I would be so grateful. This seems so basic -- remembering a color in a pie chart! It's SO basic, I'm beginning to think the problem is me. My application is exactly what "JeffM" describes in the start of this thread. I look like I don't know what I am doing to the groups I support. That makes me feel like I need to look for a different software platform.

THIS THREAD has some great info on how to "lock in" a chart color.
