Reference is changing data type from DATE to TEXT
I having a an issue here and wondering if someone can help.
In the screenshot, shown, ROW 2 is giving an error when I attempt to calculate the variance between Fiscal QTR End Date and Opening date
ROW 3 is not giving an error.
Here are the differences in the rows.
Row 2 - Both Date fields with referenced from other date columns
Row 3 - Dates were manually entered.
Question: Does Smartsheet chance the data type when referencing from another date field?

The data type is determined at the column level not at the cell. I'm assuming that the data types for the columns in the above as well as the referenced columns are all date based? Are you able to share the formula that you have in the variance column?

Hi Sean,
Yes, I should have added that. Yes all columns are date based including the source cells.

Thanks for clarifying - can you share the formula for the cell in error?

I have created a smaller sheet which shows the issue. See attached.

Hi Todd,
How did it go? Did you get it working?
Have a fantastic week!
