Limitations on design - Can I put a forumula in a cell in a date column
Only a couple of days into the trial and I was looking at creating some KPI's for a Sight.
Based on what I'm seeing, the underlying calculation MUST exist on a sheet somewhere to be pulled into a sight. The problem I run into is if on a sheet a column is a date or drop down etc. and I want to use a cell in that column in a header area of a sheet to simply contain a calculation it created an error
"DateExpected".
So, to get aggregate counts and numbers it seems my sheet has to has extra text columns which ruins the layout of the actual task lists with these unneeded columns.
Is there a better way to approach this?

You can always hide columns to improve the layout. - just a suggestion

Thanks Tim. It looks like that's what I'll have to do. I just wanted verification that SS works this way. It would be nice if you could put a "section" within a sheet that could break out of the global column definitions.

Date columns will expect a date as a result of a formula. Try adding a + "" at the end of your formula which will convert the result to a text string, which is also supported in a Date column.

Hi Travis,
Thank you very much. That does the trick! This will allow me a lot more freedom to design layouts of the sheets with KPI sections etc. Once I have that I'll use these numbers on sights.
