Conditional links on forms

Hi,

New to Smartsheet, is it possible to link fields on a form based on conditions i.e:

 - If user selects 'Production' from the field 'Employment Department' then mandatory that must select a 'Production Shift' (i.e. one of following Green,Purple,Red,Blue,Yellow)

 - Else if 'Employment Department' ≠ 'Production' then ideally 'Production Shift' field would not be shown on the form or would not be mandatory

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to have conditional logic in forms, but it's a great idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

Potential workarounds could be to:

1. Have an automatic update request sent depending on the values in the form.
2. Use a third-party solution like Google Forms or similar.

Would any of those options work?

Thank you for the feedback, I have submitted as an Enhancement request

1. Have an automatic update request sent depending on the values in the form. in essence as a user is filling in the form it would need to change on the 'fly', therefore do not think would help
2. Use a third-party solution like Google Forms or similar. - thanks, may take a look

I have used the sync with Google Forms before. It is very easy to use, and Google Forms has many more features than the forms within Smartsheet to include conditional fields.

Hi Alex,

We have some good news for Chrome and Firefox users – we have created a solution for Conditional Logic on Smartsheet Forms by using a FREE to download and use extension.

Go here to download the relevant extension   –  (scroll down to Smarter Smartsheet for Chrome or Firefox buttons)

We are working on other Browsers like IE and Safari but not there yet and will announce it when we can.

Our API development team get lots of requests for automation which is the basis of our Smarter Mini Control Center 12 Apps but one request we have been unable to fulfill up to now (unless we use Appsheet with Smartsheet) is the need for Conditional logic aka Cascading Dropdowns, when completing forms in Smartsheet.  See more.....

This will be possible in Smartsheet soon.

We will soon introduce two major enhancements to Smartsheet forms that we’d like you to know about in advance:

1. A more immersive builder UI to help get the most out of your forms, faster
2. Conditional logic to ensure each respondent is asked the most relevant questions

All of your existing forms will continue to work and be fully editable in the new builder.
