Sorting in a Sheet

When multiple users are in a sheet and 1 user sorts, everyone's sheet sorts. Is there any way to prevent that? Is there a change coming?

Hi Marie,

The only way to prevent this currently is to have collaborators shared as Viewers. I have asked our Product team to implement a new permission so that you can select Editors to either have the ability to sort, or have that option be disabled. 

Best practice is to have collaborators filter the sheet rather than sort.

I'll let you know as I hear more about implementing changes to this.

Thanks Kara. I think the reason users would rather sort than filter is because the filter does not collapse based on other filters like excel. So when you have many lines of data its easier to sort instead of filter. Is there any future enhancement to limit the filter results as you filter other columns?
