Surveying Project - How to setup the structure of Smartsheets

I need to send out Architectural Survey team out to the field to survey the existing conditions of a restaurant. Information gathered is Electrical Information (Panel Size, # of Breakers), Equipment (Make Model and serial#), Condition of Walls,etc. I'd like to send them with a Ipad with a Smartsheet form, but I'm overwhelmed on how to setup the sheets. 

Is there a preexisting Template like this? something I can edit to match my needs.

    Do you have anything you're using today? It might be easier to use that and create something new.

  • Thanks Andree for your Help. I'm a beginner to Smartsheets and we had a app being built it never got off the ground. Attached is a picture of the information I want the survey team to capture, but I keep getting mixed up with what data goes in columns versus what goes in rows. I'd like the surveyor to go out to the field pick the client they are working on and input the utilities for the building and then capture the equipment's make model and serial number and condition. Am I biting off more than I can chew?

    See the attached Form of the utilities and the form we used for capturing the assets (Manually).

    The sheet would look very similar to your screenshot and then we could either have the information in the sheet already or use a form or a combination to collect the information on site. If it made sense, we could use barcodes/QR codes to identify the equipment. Take pictures and attach them to the record in Smartsheet and so much more...

  • I like the idea of using forms in the field and populating a spreadsheet, but I read some where that you can't use one form linking to multiple sheets. Is that true? Because I figure I would go out to the field and on the form you pick the client from a client spreadsheet and when you input assets you would choose from a separate spreadsheet that has all the common assets. Like a spreadsheet containing only equipment like refrigerators and ovens.

    At the moment the Smartsheet Forms doesn't have two-way communication, but when you open the form, you can select from a drop-down list or similar.

    Would it work that the people on the field had the application installed because that might be the better solution by the sounds of it?

    It could probably work with forms as well, but I would need more details on the structure and how it could be set up to work best.
