Reassign a task

I have a sheet which has many different controls with owners assigned (and also a delegate column) which need to be updated on a frequency. I have created a report with "current user" so those assignees can log in and see only those assigned to them for updating. It appears that any drop down column can not be updated via a report which causes an issue. What is the best way to perform for due to this limitation. I need the owner of the control/task/row to have the ability to update the delegate column as the owners are at a high level and most likely will be delegating to someone on their team to complete but they will still need the ability to view the status of all of their items.

Have you changed the column types after you added it to the report? If yes, you'll probably need to check that it's the correct column that is shown/used.

It should work. Are the columns locked? What permissions do they have?

No, columns are not locked. I'm trying to do it and I have admin rights so don't think it is a rights thing. Owner, Delegate are both contact list columns. Owning Team is a drop down - those are the 3 columns which can't be updated via the report. The others which are text or checkbox etc. can all be updated.

No, just the column type difference.

That was it! Thank you - what terrible functionality for that side effect to happen. I couldn't imagine not being able to do what I'm trying to do lol Appreciate your help very much!

Something else to keep in mind...

Changing the column names will also affect a column's functionality in the report. After changing a column name, you have to go into the report(s), remove the old column name and add the new column name then re-organize the columns to place the "new" column where the "old" column was.
