Autofill Capabilities based off of Dropdown selections?

When selecting from a dropdown menu, can you build corresponding autofill capabilities into the next cell? I have a dropdown list of classifications that correspond to a weighting system. I'd like to be able to select a specific classification and have the following weight cell autopopulate. Is that possible through a formula or any other option that I'm missing?

Maybe a solution with a formula would work?

Heres an example I cooked up:

Num is an Auto Number column (This column could be hidden later)

Weight is a dropdown column

Formula is a Text/Number column with the result

Unfortunately your number would still increment for every order

Create a hidden area either at the top of the Sheet or to the rigjt of the data. Create a data set with all the categorys and subsiquent code.

Use the Lookup Formulae to look up the value and return the desired code.
