Automated - Request an Update
Hi -
I have created a few Request an Update via Automation. I have tested them and they are working great. My question is I have a couple of sheets that may have many rows that will need updates (12 or so) and they come out in 1 email. I have other sheets that may only have 2 or 3 rows that will need updates and individual emails are sent out for those updates.
Not sure what the minimum number of rows it has to be before only 1 email is sent. Anyone know?

To add to Paul's excellent advice/answer.
IF you're using the placeholder feature, it will send one mail/message per row up to six rows, and from seven and up, it will be combined into one mail/message.
When using placeholders with Alert or Update Request actions in change-based workflows, placeholders will generate separate notifications if six or fewer rows are triggered simultaneously. If seven or more rows are triggered at once, the custom subject and body will be removed.

It is going to be based on your triggers and when you save. If you make multiple updates that would trigger the automation before saving, they will all be sent out in one email. If you save between updates and the trigger is set to happen right away, then it will send separate emails.
So basically if your automation is set to run right away then it depends on how many rows trigger the automation in between saves.
Additionally, if you are using placeholders in the custom email text portion, then it will only send one email at a time.

Thanks for your feedback. I have my triggers to run in the middle of the night so the users have their emails waiting for them in the morning.

That would be why then. If there are multiple rows that meet the conditions at the time of the trigger, then it will send multiple rows in a single email.
