Set up notification to notify me of any changes except those I make myself
Hi - is there a way to set up a notification so it will send me a notification if anyone other than myself makes an update to the sheet? Was thinking this could be achieved by creating a condition where Modified By does not equal myself, but I don't see where you can incorporate Modified By in the set up. This would be very helpful b/c I will be making 95% of the updates to a project plan and don't need a notification on anything I change but do need to know about any changes made by other users.
Thank you!

Hope you are fine, yes you have the solution as you mentioned, you add the system column "Modified By" then you create a workflow with condition that alert when the modifier is not equal to yourself. check the following screenshot.

Make sure that you've added the Modified by System column and then add that as a condition and is not one of, and your email address.
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!

Thank you Bassam and Andrée - I was missing the piece to add Modified By to my sheet first! I just assume it would be available to use for that condition since it is a system generated field. I have added it to my sheet and as a condition for the notification. Thank you so much!!

Hi Bassam,
I have a comparable question: I have set up a project plan where each project step is 'assigned to' one or more people. I have set up a workflow where they receive notifications if changes to 'their' (if assigned to that row) have been done. I would like to avoid that people receive notifications of changes that they made themselves. So they should only receive notifications that other people did on 'their' (assigned to) row.
How do we need to do this?

Hi @Genevieve P. , thanks for your answer!
Is this both applicable for Smartsheet notifications and email notifications?
-
Hi @Jef Snyders
Yes: if your collaborators choose to de-select this option in their personal settings, then when they make a change on a row that would normally be the cause of a workflow trigger, then that specific alert will not show in their email or in the in-app notifications.
Cheers,
Genevieve
