How to assign someone to a task and have the assignment send an email notification to the assignee?
If I am assigning a person to a task in a sheet, I enter the column as a contact and it pulls in my contact. Is there a way that once that assignment is made, the sheet will send an email to that person?

I hope you're well and safe!
Yes. You can set this up in a Workflow with an Alert to automatically trigger when the assignment is made.
Make sense?
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Thanks Andree,
I am trying to set it so that in the column I have titled "owner", when I select a person, it automatically sends that person an email. I don't see how to do that under the create workflow. We have over 400 employees that could potentially be listed as an owner. See screenshot

I am in a large company as well so I know your pain! I create a contact column and enter the recipients email address there to assign it (in your case, make the "Owner" field a contact list). Set up your workflow to be triggered when an email is added in the "Owner" field. Side note, you can import your contacts from your outlook to make it easier for you, otherwise, you'll have to add each employee manually as they are assigned as owner.

I need to do this too but when i have set it up it is sending the email to everyone in the owner column whereas i only want to send it to the person i have assigned it to - any ideas?
Thanks

Do you have a separate column where you assign it?
I hope that helps!
Have a fantastic weekend & Happy New Year!
