How to sort data by date?

Hi guys. I'm hoping someone can help me. I emailed support but got no reply!

I have a sheet with data on it from the beginning of the year. I recently hit sort by ascending and cant change it back. So instead of my data going from 1st- 31st jan. 1st-28th Feb etc its going 01st jan, 01st feb, 01st march and so on.

Any idea how I can sort this problem?

It sounds like your dates may actually be inserted into a Text/Number type of column instead of a Date type of column, is this possible? Double click on the column name to open up the Column Properties and find out this information.

A Text/Number column will sort by the numbers (ex. 01, 01, 01, 02, 02, 02) whereas the Date column will sort in order of the date (ex. 01, 02, 03, 01, 02, 03).

How is this data being populated into your sheet? Can you change the column to be a Date Type of column, then re-sort once it's the correct type?
