How do I track Date changes for status updates?

I want to be able to track when a project goes from Work in Progress, Pending Account Team feedback, Pending IT issue resolution to see how long a project is in Work in Progress.

Is there a way to do this in Smart Sheet? This way we can track cycle time for time in each status?

I recommend using this workflow, and trigger it based on status changes. Create a date column and set the workflow to insert the date when it sees a status condition change.

This is great Dale, the issue I'm having is when it flips from pending back to work in progress back to pending, won't the date field auto update to the new date and lose the previous date field record? I need to have a way of capturing if that occurs. I'm trying to see if there is a better way than having 10-15 columns of status change updates, and i'm not finding a better solution.
