Create a live copy of my sheet
I would like to be able to re-order my sheet without the parenting hierarchy in place. I was thinking that if I create a live copy that is always up to date but does not have the parenting information this would be easy.
Basically, I have task assignments under projects. and different people are assigned to different tasks on different projects. I want to have a view that just shows me each person's things in gant view. but it always brings in the parents as well.
Is there a way to do that? maybe with the API or something?
any tips would be appreciated. thanks.

I would definitely take a look at reports in Smartsheets. You can add the Gantt View to a report and in your reports filter tasks by the assignee, etc.

Hi Jeremy,
It sounds like maybe a Filter would work for you - you can filter while in Gantt view and include parent rows too - see my screenshot.
Best,

I second Kara's choice - if you are the only one to be viewing these filters. If you want the assignee to see only their choices definitely go with the report. It depends on what you want to accomplish and who is going to be viewing it.
