Adding my voice to this request. I really hope this is close to a usable functionality, as it drives away interest from others within my institution. We need to be able to quickly assess status updates from a single cell due to how the sheet presents and flows through other sheets. Something like this in a weekly update would really help drive my team to use the tool more:

    • Michelle will PM once approved.
    • 2/23/24: Presented at CC.
      • Alternatives to be explored (First Vendor Name and Second Vendor Name)

  • This would also be good to expand formatting to Dropdowns lists as well. We have long list drop downs and would like to be able to bold/underline cluster headings of the drop down to make them more visually defined. At the moment we are having to use hypens to denote the headings and it looks a little messy. To be able to bold e.g. Adriatics & Baltics & Ukraine as a regional cluster and then the options underneath would make life so much better.

    YES PLEASE!

We use a lot of data, but some of the applications for cells require written word and rich text options are important needs.

Our team frequently uses fields such as "description" on tasks, with lengthy paragraphs of crucial information for completing a request. In addition to the rich text being visible in the cells on the sheets and reports, it's also necessary to have this formatting preserved when exporting the task, either to a PDF/Excel sheet, or when printing via the Print Row feature. Currently, all line breaks are removed when printing and it is very frustrating for team members to sort through the information.

  • I agree with all of the above, with the addition of being able to do this in reports as well and have rich text formatting in the report change the underlying sheets like changing cell contents does. Heck, even just having the current formatting available for reports would be very helpful.

Would massively help the readability of status update sheets!

Would love to have the ability to use rich text formatting or some type of highlighting of words or text within a cell that doesn't impact the entire cell.

As an example - in an issue tracker, in Notes/Detail column, we add high-level updates. If I could highlight or change the color of the font for a specific word, it will help identify key information for end users. I would want to be able to put the "DO NOT" in bold and/or red to call it out.

Yes, when will we have better formatting options in the table cells?  Like bullets and bolding on one line vs the entire cell?

  • This would be a great QoL improvement

Having the ability to have bullets (multiple levels), direct links within the text, and basic formatting (bold, italics, underline, strikethrough) on specific text within a cell would be a game changer for us

  • We would also love to see rich text formatting in cells within sheets and the ability to import rich text from sources Smartsheet currently supports (eg: Excel sheets, Google Sheets, etc..).

  • Is there any status or progress on this feature?

I would really love to see "Click HERE to access the document", and the here is a link instead of pasting a long URL.

  • To make it more visual:

    • change the font color inside a cell: being able to select text inside a cell (or part of a cell) and change the font color, will make that text section stand out.
    • change the font type (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough) inside a cell: the font type can enhance a project by drawing attention to key words within a text/cell.
    • change the font size inside a cell: the font size can help differentiate between titles, headers, and body text inside a cell.
    • highlight text within a cell, and hyperlink specific text/font inside a cell
