Columns rearranging
Hello,
I want my ~50 columns in my sheet in a certain order, however after rearranging several times, the columns move out of order. I do have a sheet connected to this sheet by a move automation, but I also rearranged those columns in the exact order as the first sheet. How do I keep the columns in the specific order?
Also what exactly does 'lock column' mean? Is that what I need to do in order to keep the columns in the specific order?

@Lara Lehnerz Columns in a sheet shouldn't reorder themselves. You can check the activity log, it should show when columns are reordered and by whom.

Hi Jeff,
Interesting, so I have ~20 folks using this sheet. It is our source of work and they all have editor - can not share rights so they can move the row from on Status to the next, and update other fields including adding rows/projects if needed. With that is there away I can lock the columns once I get them in the way I want them?

If they only have Editor access, they shouldn't be able to move the columns. They need to have Admin or Owner access.

Locking columns would make them not editable by those who have Editor access.

Thank you for your response, however maybe I found a bug, as that isn't true. I see several folks that have Editor-Cannot share permissions that show in the Activity log 'Columns Reordered' by those same folks.

Are they only shared directly to the sheet, or do they have access through a Group or maybe a Workspace?

Was there a resolution to this? I am having the same issue. Only action taking place are tick boxes and formats, the user, Katrina, is not rearranging columns in what is her primary sheet.

I have not seen a resolution but then again, kind of gave up. I have tried to just keep the two sheets linked but isn't always full proof.

We have had this happen several times this week. I arrange and hide some columns and unhide others, to get it the way we want. When we come in the next day, it is back the way it was. Activity log shows our admin doing it, which she didn't, because she and I are the ones that want it the way it was. Very odd. I've fixed again this morning, we'll see when/if it reorders itself again.
