Hi!
It would be really cool if the result displayed in a cel for the result of a drop-down choice could be a different color in that cel. Also, have that be able to change by status/be filterable. This would make it a lot more intuitive instead of everything just being grey.
Imagine the below with the ability for Maine to be Green and New Jersey to be Blue.
Will be nice to have multi color (random colors assigned as well as user defined) for single and multi-select dropdown values. Take a look at the example below,
Absolutely, and similar to the request I have submitted too. Here is the post - https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/96766/multi-colored-values-for-single-and-multi-select-dropdowns#latest
Other modern work management tools have this feature and users love it. Smartsheet is falling behind the competition without this simple feature.
In my opinion, it would be great if the grey bubble could also be removed.
Why is it not possible to use the same formatting as in any other cell? The fact that it is a drop-down list should not affect the formatting.
Wondering about the status of this, it's a great idea!
@malbers "Idea Submitted" is the status and will be updated as it progresses through the various stages of development.
Thanks @Paul Newcome, but the idea has been there for a while now :-(, was hoping some progress by now :-)
Features like these make or break the user adoption.
This is actually a great example of why we need to make sure we are REALLY searching in depth before submitting a new idea.
This idea thread is the same as the other idea thread. Now we have split votes. The number of votes is going to be a pretty big factor in getting Smartsheet's attention, but we have drawn votes away from the other thread.
Although it looks like someone from Smartsheet has noticed this now and merged the two threads, we can't always count on that happening.
Following up on this great idea? I have not heard any updates.
@Carlos Elizondo There is a yellowish banner at the bottom of the original post that should give you the current status.
I find Smartsheet clumsy and awkward to use. I'm not surprised User Interface isn't a high priority.
Genuinely surprised the community needed to request this, I appreciate backlogs, it's not MVP but it's a basic feature your competition uses. It's not just making things look more colourful; it's a huge aid in scan-ability and reducing cognitive load in consuming large datasets... you know one of those core things your product is for.
I do see from your released features documentation (which itself is an A+ well designed feature 👍️) that reporting and integrating are your main priorities.
But little things like this do matter, as mentioned in this thread, they do effect product choice. And this low hanging fruit: Hex Code Property + Colour palette + UI for colour selection
Still love this idea- last update is a week shy of one year ago. Any roadmap updates?
It's really hurting our productivity that we can't color code the multiple option dropdown menu items.
Color coding in general seems to be seriously lacking in SmartSheets. I find myself going back to Google Sheets for smaller projects just because it's easier to customize.
