Automate image attachments to drop into a column

Hi,

My team is asking for images to be visible in a column versus as an attachment.

Unfortunately one has to click on each attachment to view. One cannot see a preview of all images on each row on the sheet. Therefore one has to open attachment, preview, download and insert in to a dedicated column with cells for pictures.

There has to be a better way. We will lose our team members support of the use of smartsheet if it cannot do things that are easily accomplished and have a high PITA factor.

Is there a way to automate the upload of attachments into a cell within the respective row?

OR

Does Smartsheet intend to make a dedicated column for attachments with preview thumbnails.

Critical to continued use of the product and developing further sheets within the organization.

It's not an excellent idea, it's a lost opportunity.

Ideas posted in the Community are reviewed monthly by the Product team; top-voted posts in the Ideation category receive a Status update. You can Sort the Ideas list by the "top" voted posts to see popular Community requests. Anyone who votes on an Idea will receive an email update when a Status changes!

However there are other ways that Smartsheet receives feedback, including the Product Feedback Form you can find in this Help Article: Track product updates or make an enhancement request

Then there is a Release Notes page you can subscribe to in order to receive email alerts when new features are made available. These features are sometimes announced in the Community as well, under the Product Announcements topic.

If you're moving attachments from the attachment panel into a cell on the row instead, then you're correct: you will need to download that image and then re-upload it into the cell.

The attachment panel currently contains thumbnails of the images that you can click on to see a bigger preview. However, there isn't a way to automatically translate attachments into cell images.

Please submit your feature request for a way to automatically insert images to the Product team by creating an Idea Post in the Smartsheet Product Feedback and Ideas topic here in the Community. This will allow other users to vote on your request and explain their own use case for this as well.
