What are the benefits of publishing sheets and or reports?  What are the negatives of publishing?  Thanks!

  • Teresa,

Simply put, it allows easy access to the data anonymously in either view or edit modes (reports and sights can only be published as view only) without having to make an account.

For more information see our help article: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/522078-publishing-smartsheet-items

If you have any questions let me know.

  • A common way that people use Publish for sheets, reports, or Sights, is when they want the whole entire company to have access to a sheet (HR policies....or helpful Smartsheet formulas). Publishing allows this without needing to share with everyone, like Ben mentioned.

  • I use it when, for example, we are doing an upgrade of a system or programm, and the various steps have to be done by both internal & external consultants.

With a shared sheet & alerting activated, we all know the current status of the several steps that need to be done by the group, without having to call or send messages when something is achieved or done.
