Alerts - Notifications to Groups

Is it not possible to set up a Notification alert to be sent to a Group?  I only see the ability to send them to individual users.

    +1 to this.  I have observed the same behavior.  I can share to groups, but I can't set up notifications to groups.  What gives?

    See this post as well.  The groups management and use need some refining in SS.

    This feature really needs to be added!

  • Hi Brad and Thor-- Currently, our Notification functionality does not support sending notifications to Groups, but I've added your vote for this to our enhancement request list. Our developers are considering updates to the Notification functionality, so I've also personally forwarded this feedback to the PM on this project. Thank you for this input!

    Thanks for the feedback Kennedy.  It could really save me alot of time if we had the ability to manage groups like individuals.  Every time somone joins our organization I have to manually add their notifications for each individual sheet they are shared to - and just updating the group and fortetting it would be soooo much nicer.

    Maybe they could roll this into the upcomming change to the notifications which is under way???

    I  am hoping the same thing but the survey we took gave no hint that it will be.

    Not that that is proof.



  • BIG +1 to this!!  We add people to our organization often and having to remember which sheets to open up and verify they're added to the notifications is time consuming.  We often overlook some sheets and that can cause communication breakdowns.  So adding this would really help!  Thanks!  _David

As per previous posts, this would make sheet management more effective rather than updating individual sheets every time we have staffing changes. Smartsheet has some very good time saving functionality, but the absence of adding groups to notifications creates the exact opposite with multiple adds/changes, creating a very time intensive and potentially error prone exercise.

    Any chance this feature might finally be implemented?  Lots of other "cool" stuff but this feature seems like a basic one that's missing.  As one user said, we can share to groups, why can't we use the same group in a notification?

    Smartsheet, this feature has been requested for over two years.  Is it really that hard?
