Options to display all formulas/functions in a sheet
Hi Community,
I am a new user and would like to know if there is a way to view the formulas/functions within a sheet either as an ad hoc toggle on/off feature/shortcut or by leveraging the report builder.
I understand that we could copy the formula/function body as text to a hidden column for reference or reporting. However, the ideal solution would enable a real time view of formulas/functions across one or many sheets.
All questions and feedback are welcome. Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,
Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
Have a fantastic week!

Hi @Andrée Starå - Wondering if there is an update on if this is now possible, as I see this post is back in 2019. I am wanting to see the formula used in a sheet I received and wondering how I can do that.
-
Same. I have an extensive Smartsheet that I want to create a guide for others in case it would get messed up somehow or I ever go m.i.a. :)
-
What I did in this case was created a 2nd copy of my sheet and edited that copy so all my formulas in their cells are now text. It was the best work around I could find for now to create a master guide.

Hi stephanie,
Thank you so much for posting this! I am wondering however, if you could help elaborate on your knowledge of "copy the formula/function body as text"? I know how to copy and paste as values, but I am not aware of how to paste in a way that the formula itself shows as text… ie. super simple example: =SUM([Past Revenue]@row:[Jul-24]@row), gives me the sum of $851.00. I know how to paste this as "value" so that only the $851 shows, however, what I'm needing to do for an entire sheet is to be able to paste so that the =SUM([Past Revenue]@row:[Jul-24]@row) shows in the cell. Not sure if that is what you were referring to when you mentioned "copy the formula/function body as text" - Thanks in advance for your help! -
Hi Cindy,
Thank you so much for posting this! Similar to my request above to Stephanie I am wondering, if you could help elaborate on your knowledge of "edited [a 2nd] copy so all [the] formulas in their cells are now text"?
I know that putting an apostrophe in front of the "=" will turn the formula in that cell into it's text, but how do you do this in bulk for an entire sheet? - Thanks in advance for your help! -
Hi @Eliana Davalos ,
Unfortunately, I had to do this extremely manually by touching every cell and putting the ' in the front :(, this is why the enhancement is absolutely needed. I have to do this again for another 3 sheets and am procrastinating it which is not helpful to the person who will be taking over my prior responsibilities.
I edited the first cell and then copied, so I could at least paste it into the other cells but it's time consuming and shouldn't have to be done this way. Technology should allow it to be done a much more smarter and efficient way.
It would be extremely useful if Smartsheet took a page out of Microsoft Word's book and allowed you to toggle between formulas (like the paragraph, spacing, etc. toggle switch) and the data.
