When will we be able to add several subfolders to a Workspace, and decide who gets access to each sub -folder instead of always inheriting

Will we be able to share folders under sheets in the near future

This will get my vote after we have a way to easily clean up exceptions to the Sheet sharing.

I'm concerned that if there are more configuration possiblities before the maintenance issues are addressed, they never wil be.

  • I'm right there too, I vote for it.

In my company, we've been complaining (internally) about the lack of sharing capabilities at the folder level since the begining... But we never got onto this site to mention it because we were told, from the get-go, that this was the way it worked. But this is really a missing feature, especially in a global organization that arranges folders by region and by project or customer. Different people need to have access to different folders. In our case, the regions are the workspaces. But for each project (one folder = one project), we have different people that need access to all the sheets within the folders. The solution for now is to assign rights for each sheet. it is quickly becoming a nightmare though.

Craig, if you read this, I'd like to know more detail about these concerns you were talking about.

  • Shanett, can you add a "Feature Request" tag to your list of tags? I think you'll have a better chance of it being seen for what it is, a feature request.

    Stephanie,

The core of the issues are being able to clean up the system or to keep it clean.

For example, I can download a sheet access report that shows me who owns or is shared to Sheets and Reports. But not workspaces.

There is no way, currently  to get all list of all the sheets that are in a workspace, but which are shared only at the sheet level.

If I had that list, there is no way to see duplcates (which can created with the same permissions). I have to go through the system one by one.

    The list goes on.

In general, keeping track and maintaining the permissions is as important to security and just giving the permissions away.

    my $0.02

    Shanett,

When you click on a thread you have posted, in the upper right of the Subject area, there is a down arrow. When that is clicked, you can edit your original post.

When in edit mode, you can update the tags associated with the thread like you did when you first created it.

The one she suggests is "Enhancement Request" in the left column.

  • Thanks Craig! This said, you might take a laugh at this... The "she" is a "he"... I'm French-Canadian and a man. Stephane is the French version of Stephen. I think I should change my name... Laughing
