Cache Pages in WorkApps
Right now, switching between pages in WorkApps takes a long time because the page reloads every time. I think ideally, it would behave more like having all the pages open in different tabs that you can quickly switch between. It would be nice if it automatically reloads only if it detects a change, not every time it's selected.
Keyboard Shortcut for "Link from cell in Other Sheet" aka "Cell Link"

Please add these keyboard shortcut! π

Re: Can anybody explain this seemingly impossible formula result
Hi TVang,
I really appreciate the time that you have put in on my issue.
[Complete]@row is of type Text/Number and has values of <blank> or 0 through 1, so 0.5 is a task that is 50% complete and 0 or <blank> is a task that has not been commenced. Not sure of the effect of VALUE() over that content would do and I should find out (late at night here in Australia). [Complete]@row is being tested in many formulas to be = 0, > 0, < 1, etc. and is appearing to work correctly (over many, many years). Good thought though.
I've attached the three relevant screenshots. [Complete]390 is 1 from 14-May-2025 3:08PM onwards, whereas [Task Status]390 goes through multiple values from "Completed Today", through a couple of "Overdue"s mixed in with "Completed Recently"s. That's my core issue. How can an "Overdue" ever occur with the code as published while [Complete]390 remains at 1.
I've just now pushed this to Smartsheet as a support case, but I was trusting the Community more in the first instance to have ideas.
Thanks again,
Rob

Re: NEW! Timeline view
When will this be available for SmartsheetGov users? I don't see it as an option in my sheets yet. Bummer.
Also, the docs imply that Date columns that use column formulas won't work for this. Is there a plan to enable this in the future? Many of our long-term planning sheets use column formulas to convert from Calendar/Fiscal Year + Quarter to estimated/approximate start/end dates. It'd be great to be able to utilize these formula-based Date columns for Timeline view (as we can for Gantt).
Re: Are New Folders No Longer Allowed In Sheets Directory
Hi @Julie Becker,
I'm happy to help clarify my role - Community posts in general categories (such as this) are intended for member-to-member communication and collaboration. My team helps moderate these to ensure our wonderful members stay in line with our Community Guidelines.
When I see comments that are requesting a response from Smartsheet, I help direct customers to provide their feedback in a location where it will be reviewed by the Product team (the related thread in either Product Announcements or Product Ideas). Posting in these locations means that you will be notified of any additional communication. You can of course always submit feedback through the form found here or in the application using the bullhorn icon.
Speaking directly to your question about the Sheets Folder change in behaviour, the announcement post linked has some of the reasoning identified but I can clarify a few extra bullet points.
Prior to the change, we found that:
- Customers identified that the Sheets folder had become an overwhelming disorganized repository with a mix of useful/not useful assets, some owned, some shared without structural clarity.
- The Sheets folder was confusing new customers conceptually: why is there a separate folder outside of workspaces? What goes there, why, and when?Β
- The name of "Sheets" is confusing as it may contain other types of assets.
- If the sheets folder became too large, in some instances it caused slow loading times in sheet-picker windows.
This change is intended to help with organization and load times:
- Associating assets with a workspace means that when restoring items from the Deleted Items folder, the item will go back to the original workspace.
- Improving sheet-picker load times.
- Creating assets in-context of a solution, instead of through disjointed, scattered assets, helps with clarity for new users.Β
- Collections are built on structured workspaces.
- Collections are built on structured workspaces.
There are likely many more reasons than this and future plans I personally do not have visibility into, but I hope this helps bring some additional clarity. I do understand that change is hard and adjusting our behaviour towards something this widely used will always generate feedback - that feedback should definitely be heard and is taken into account.
My hope is that by pointing the members on this thread to the right place, we are doing exactly that: ensuring your feedback is being heard while also ensuring that you receive an alert with any future content or information for concerns that are important to you.
Thank you!

Re: Generate Document Error
Yes I have also recently seen this screen and have contacted Tech support.
I experience this issie using a Mac computer running the smartsheet app signed into the Europe region
The temp fix i found is
Sign in via a web page ie Chrome in my case.
If you get the same error try via an incognito web browser. If that works then go back to your web browser and delete cache.
I still have a case number fpr this issue that I'll follow up on again as it's gone silent on the SS Tech support side?
However based on my communication with it is a known issue with the aapp only when signed in to the Euro region.

Re: Bring Back the Outlook Add-In - Please upvote this!
Need to make future enhancements to get the Outlook Add-in application to work again. The connection to allow emails to be tagged and flagged between the two platforms was a powerful tool that made makes life for detailed task tracking and assignment much easier and extremely user friendly through the Smartsheet App interface. I will be deeply distraught if this feature isnβt brought back as it made my life much easier.

Re: Creating a collection from a folder is now here!
As someone who uses Control Center to create projects that often need the full project folders shared with specific people, this is going to take just as much, if not more time, to do that to just share the project folder with the correct teams.
We need to be able to right click on a folder and share it and all items within to users. We already have these projects in workspaces organized, why this extra step?
This also does not allow us to share the folders within a project, as they cannot be added to the collection.
Re: Creating a collection from a folder is now here!
Hello @John Hieger .
I've recently deployed Collections, believing it will assist in information sharing with external organisations. It looks good!
As a test, I included a filtered Cost Report in my collection. Sharing with an external party. On opening via an external account, I noticed that the Report contained no data - this was because the source Sheet that the Report is based on wasn't included in the Collection. By including the source Sheet, the Report populated correctly. This raises a concern.
Our use case would be to share a filtered Report with a specific organisation knowing that they can only view the filtered data, not the projects entire financials contained in the source Sheet as an example. By including the source Sheet this opens up complete visibility which is in no way desirable. Is this the expected behavior or have I missed something? Reports by their nature, are filtered Sheets. It doesn't make sense to me that a user needs to include both Sheet and Report in the collection. Perhaps the solution to this is a fourth "collection permission" being 'hidden.'
I'd appreciate your take on this.

Limiting data set for chart on dashboard
Hi,
I have a couple of line graphs that are tracking changes in a specific metric (single column) from row to row. The rows are populated when someone completes a form that gets added to the bottom of the sheet. I'd like to limit the visual of the line graph to just the most recent 4 rows (or 4 most recent data sets). Is there any way to do this that doesn't require a second sheet?
