As a user, I would like form URLs to automatically update on newly saved dashboards when copying a workspace,
So that I do not have to manually update the Form URLs and prevent the risk of forms accidentally pointing to the original sheet or workspace.
Please refer to case # 05972330, as this had been previously assumed to be a defect. Case: 05972330 (smartsheet.com)
Problem: Form links have to be entered as web links when putting them in the shortcuts widget or when linking to them through widget behavior option. These do not dynamically update when saving a folder/workspace as new. i.e. form links on a new dashboard will still link back to the old forms. This creates additional admin overhead and the potential of mistakes / the wrong forms being used.
Dashboards, sheets, reports etc can be selected as smartsheet items and these do update dynamically, we need forms to have the same behavior.
Agreed - I'm running into issues with this now as well.
Much needed functionality!
Consider update the form link embedded in dashboard when copy the workspace. In the dashboard of copied workspace, when submitted the form then data is added into source of old workspace.
I am trying to create a "Template" workspace by saving my workspace as "New". This mostly works, but one of the main drawbacks is that when I have a link to a form attached, this link does not automatically update to the new workspace. Any data entered on the "New" forms will be stored in the original sheet.
It would be great if, when you "save as new", the form links update to the new workspace.
Thanks,
Nathan
Can I vote 10x for this? We use Smartsheets to manage customer projects and we create hundreds of projects. Having to do this for every project form is labor intensive!
Thanks everyone! Looks like this may be coming soon!
Is this on the radar? This is way overdue. I see the file library is the same as forms, URL link that doesn't update when copying a workspace. Dynamic dropdown lists is my other head scratcher… Should not need data shuttle for a feature that excel has had for two decades plus. I can do through API but is clunky.
@Marc Hauge - That is the update was as of Sept-18th! "Coming soon - Thank you for your feedback! We hear you, and we're looking to solve for this scenario very soon. Stay tuned for updates!"
That would be huge. Do you know if they will address dynamic drop down lists?
I do not know about dynamic drop-down list but I do know Smartsheet listens to their customers! Looking forward to this update.
Hi all,
This has now been released when provisioning a new project from Control Center or from the Template Gallery! Here's the announcement post:

This is currently possible (and very easy to do) with DataTable already, but yeah, it costs more.
