Cross-Sheet Dependencies

Effective management of project programs demands careful consideration of inter-project dependencies since tasks in one project can impact or rely on tasks in another project.

We kindly request information about your plans for introducing cross-sheet dependencies in Smartsheet. Could you please confirm if this feature is included in any upcoming releases or if it is not included in the product roadmap at all?

Having Relationship between sheets is extremely important when building an integrated schedule. This should be a high development concern.

I would like to inquire about the status of my question that was submitted a month ago regarding the potential implementation of cross-sheet dependencies in Smartsheet.

Adding my two cents in on this feature request.

We are finding that a master sheet is needed to help manage the multiple project sheets. Dashboards and reports can then be created so that the master sheet has the latest status for executive presentations.

Cross-sheet dependencies is a differentiating feature in this software space.

Cross project dependency is a native feature in MS Project, ideally any project management tool needs to have this capability. To effectively manage a portfolio and/or program this is a must have. This function should be embedded into Predecessor within the the plan (aka Sheet), and not a work around through a Report.

I'm new to Smartsheet and our very first lead stresses that it is necessary for his company to be able to make a dependency link between two tasks on different projects. I wish I could tell him something other than “if we tinker a little…”.
That would be a must have to me. I hope to see that implemented soon.

You can use cell links for this. Cell link the Start Date of task on your dependent project schedule to the End Date of a task on the predecessor project sheet.

Not arguing that Predecessors cross-sheet would be better. Upvoted the idea. But in the meantime cell links work pretty well.

Being able to link timelines across multiple sheets is an essential need in project management. I hope this gets implemented soon.
