Avoiding (email) notifications if assigned to = modified by

Hi all,

I have set up a market research project plan with around 60 tasks. Each task is assigned to specific person(s) (could be multiple). I have a workflow where they 'assigned to' contact receives a (email) notification if the row on which he/she is 'assigned to' is changed. However, I only want them to receive (email) notifications if the cells in the row are updated/changed by a different person. So not receiving notifications if 'assigned to' = 'modified by'.

It does not seem to be feasible with a formula as 'modified by' is an email address and 'assigned to' is a contact person.

Any ideas?

@Jef Snyders I do not know of a way to disable that from the notification itself, but I have my team update this setting, in order for them to not receive the information (You want them to uncheck the bottom box where it says to include my changes in notifications:
