Could you develop a fix that makes sheets automatically disconnect from Resource Management when they’re deleted—either initially or when they are permanently deleted after 30-days.
It’s quite annoying to hunt down a deleted sheet—because you have to know the owner—and when it’s permanently deleted, you see that there’s no way for a user to break the link. (I had to ask Smartsheet Support, who had to pass it along to the engineering team, Issue 06367776)
I can’t imagine what undesirable effect breaking a link upon sheet deletion might have.
Even better would be to allow the link to be broken from within Resource Management, but I can appreciate that the way the system is built on the backend may not allow for this.
There needs to be a method to completely delete/remove a project from Resource Management without the need to manually remove all the associated tasks one by one. When deleting a Sheet, that sheet should also be deleted entirely from Resource Management with a confirmation step that this action cannot be reversed.
Hi @Chadd,
Not sure if you have figured out a solution for this by now but I was searching the Community for something similar and came across this post. In case you or anyone else still has this issue, there is a way to completely delete/remove a project from Resource Management without the need to manually remove all the associated tasks individually.
In Resource Management, go to your organization's "Projects" view using the tab at the top of the screen. Select the the project that you want to delete - clicking on the project will direct you that project's "Brief" page. In the top-right corner of the project's "Brief" page, click on the "Project Settings" button.
In the Project Settings menu, you will notice on the left-hand navigation column that there's an option to "Delete Project". This will allow you to delete the project in Resource Management only - note that this will not delete the associated project in Smartsheet (including any of the sheets, reports or dashboards associated with the project). But deleting the project in Resource Management will remove all associated tasks with the projects and free up capacity for the affected Managed Resources that were previously assigned to the project.
Here's an article to help you:
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Justin
