User access, delete and reinstate?

Hi all,

I have recently had an issue where a colleague couldn't gain access to their SS account so I deleted the user in admin centre and created them as a new user using a different email address. That worked and got them into the account. I then tried to change the primary email address to the previous original email and the message "Email address is already associated with another Smartsheet account" pops up?

The original email addresses account has been deleted therefore its not associated so how do I rectify this?
