Workarounds for new preview attachments popup - web version

The recent change documented here: https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/105782/open-files-in-a-new-window has really impacted our clients workflows. Now instead of being able to click on an attachment and work with it immediately, they have to do multiple steps to view it (the preview window is often not legible for larger documents) or print it (download, open in Adobe and then Print). Have others been impacted by this and / or found better options / workarounds?

Would dynamic views be a viable option? In the details pane, you can allow attachments to appear and from there whomever is shared to the dynamic view can download the attachment(s).

Creating a new view isn't of benefit. I admit that this new "preview" view is not workflow friendly. I constantly download attachments and now it's a few steps to do so instead of one click.

It would be helpful if SS gave the option to have either preview mode or download mode as our selection and that remain in place.
