Auto Send Documents
Hi,
I have created a smartsheet database to track new starters, based on fields when a "completed" status is reached, a document is generated filled with new user info.
Is there a way to automate this to email to a user / contact assigned?

Yes. You would set up an alert type automation triggered when an attachment is added then set up the recipient to be based on your contact type column.

Yes, you can use Workflow that triggers when the document is added so it sends out an alert with the link to the document.

For clarification on a project I'm working on. Once a document is generated and attached to the row, the automation still sends a link to the attachment, correct? We still do not have a way to send the actual document. Because that would solve so many of my manual actions if the team could send the actual file. :/

Agreed - I don't want the recipients to have to click through smartsheets stuff - just attach the file.

I am looking for a solution for this as well. I am utilizing Smartsheet to capture staff's thank you's from APP week coming up soon. I have it set up to create the document. I want the system to send the nominee the document.
Any suggestions?

You can set up a workflow that sends an update request with "An attachment" selected in specific fields.
Mine is triggered by clicking on a "Generate Document" field which then automatically populates a "Date of Report Generation". When a date is populated it triggers the update request.
The recipient then receives an email, opens their request and has access to download all attachments. I have included a check box for them to indicate they have received their documents.
