Row Deletion Control

Owners/Admins need to have the ability to restrict the deletion of rows whether it be through not allowing editors to delete a row with a locked column or the outright ability to restrict users from deleting ANY row.

This kind of issue makes it difficult to use Smartsheet as a source of truth. It also seems like a fairly basic security feature.

Can't find this in the Enhancement Requests, but it's all over the Community:

Quite simply, have a way to prevent users from deleting rows WHILE still allowing them to edit the unlocked cells in the row.

At minimum, create a popup warning the user they are about to delete a row. (there is a popup warning for "unlock row", but not for "delete row")

    AGREED!!!

My sheet has ID numbers that depend on how many of a previous rows (by created date) of certain types/categories. If one use starts a row keeps it in draft stage, and then deletes it when they find they don't need it, it will affect all the subsequent ID's of rows that were created afterwards. I do not want them to delete rows unless there is a formula or other method that checks to see that it is the last one on the list (in created order) so that it cannot screw up subsequent ID's

Please make it so that editors cannot delete rows, or that if they delete a row an Admin or Owner has to approve it (or easily undo it.)

We have many users using this sheet that need to edit the rows but shouldn't be able to delete a row. Especially since its too easy to accidentally delete a row on the cell phone app.

Having better user control over what users can or can't delete in rows and comments is crucial.

I suggest that the current user levels be updated as below

"Editor Can't Share" should be "Editor Can't Share or Delete"
(If they can't share, they also shouldn't have access to Delete rows or Comments).

"Editor Can Share" should be "Editor Can Share and Delete"

(If they can share, they should also have access to Delete rows and Comments).

For example in the healthcare industry, some data needs to be saved for a few years and if any editor can delete comments or rows, there's no way to see the history of the cells or comments (besides for pulling history reports, which can be complicated if there's multiple or random rows and comments missing).

User permission type set when sharing sheet similar to edit access, but to prevent/allow users to delete rows.

I agree overall to having control over the deletion of rows, and that some additional constraints to the Editor role would be useful beyond the can/cannot share. Lets go a step beyond that and let the Admin create 1 or 2 customizable hybrid roles in admin center. As an example, using the both Editor/Admin roles, have a Hybrid 1 and a list of actions allowable by role with a corresponding checkbox so a custom role can be created. Whether you desire an admin that cannot share or delete rows, or an Editor that can delete rows and columns. Having the ability to truly customize a role (or two), would be an impactful and welcome update.
