Admin Paid - Automation
Admin will go into smartsheet and enter a value for 3 columns (invoiced processed date, invoice comment, and total amount)
The trigger is setup where when any value is inputted here, that will alert the person in the row, that is the person who submitted a form. But I would like for the alert to also notify the VP Name. That is one of the fields in the form as well. But "created by" is the only field I can select under alert someone.
Is the automation setup correctly?

Can you see if other options pop up if you select " Send to contacts in ROW"? It might look through the other columns? unsure if this will work.

Hi,
If the VP Name is not a contact column, it will not populate in your options list. The contact will also need to be an email otherwise it can't send a notification.

Can you look at your permissions settings? There's an error showing so I'm not sure what exactly is blocking the notification.

In your screenshot above, the section where it says "Change your permissions settings" - click on that. It will give you options.

Change it to unrestricted and see if you receive the notification.

The only other explanation is that since Created by is a system column and not a contact column, it may not send a notification.

@Darla Brown so I created a new column called contacts. I entered in an email. But it doesn't allow me to use this column for the automation

When I run into issues like this, I always scale back and see where the problem initiates. My recommendation would start at the trigger. Instead of 3, let 1 item be the trigger - like Invoiced Processed Date. If that works, then try adding another one. I try not to use multiple triggers as sometimes those are a problem. With the "Run Now" option, you can test these endlessly until you figure out the best practice for what you need.
