Gantt Chart Timeline?
Is there a way to have the bars in a Gantt chart to be all on one line? This way the info can be compressed similar to "Timeline View" in MS Project. Can it be done with SmartSheets?

If you want to show multiple start and end dates on a single row in a Gantt chart, it isnt possible but if you are using hierarchies then parent rows will rollup the dates from child rows and show a summery bar in the Gantt chart which expands from the early child start date to the latest child end date.

Another way to get a timeline view to show multiple dates on the same row is to use our integration with Office Timeline. More information is available here:

Robin - Does the integration with Office Timeline include sync so that it isn't necessary to re-load information to update the PPT view? We are in our evaluation of Smartsheet and a number of our MS Project users have become quite used to the Timeline view.I could see that sync is available with MS Project but I couldn't find that for Smartsheet. Apologies if this is obvious!

I belive the Office Timeline product creates a snapshot which is what you can embed into Powerpoint. You would have to manually update the image it creates.

Ugh. Hopefully sync with the Enterprise verison of Smartsheet is in the works. Re-importing and creating new views isn't much fun.

Just found this. Really would love to see this single line summary so it looks like this:

Peter Stone - I like that idea.
Any word on if something like this will become available?

Hello—
We currently don't have a way to display multiple start and end dates for tasks on a single line (such as in the parent row's task bar) but I've got your votes down for this on our enhancement request list for further consideration.

Hi,
a view like the one shown by Peter would be great to have!
I have a lot of simple projects which have all the associated information on one line together with half a dozen key, sequential, not overlapping dates. It would be great to show these graphically as a summary of the schedule.Regards - Roland

Yes! I really want this feature. I'm disappointed that it doesn't exist already. When can we have this?

bumping this up. Any more news on a Timeline view. This is pretty basic feature for aproject management app. I love the app but this is important.
