Current User does not work on Unlicensed User in WorkApp?
I am experiencing a weird phenomenon with the Current User Filter on one of the sheets in WORKAPPS.
The current user filter works on the SHEET but not the sheet in the WORKAPP. I have a few users accessing the same sheet in the WORKAPP, and one person who does not have the license cannot see her project assigned to. Does anyone know why?
We have checked name spelling, sign in emails, etc. They are all correct! (Of course, because the sheet filter the user projects correctly, but not in the workapps environment.)

I haven't heard of this happening before; when you have a minute, I would suggest opening a Support ticket so this can be researched in a private channel.
Please take a video recording of what this user is seeing (both within the sheet directly and the Workapp), identifying the email/contact, and showing how the contact is set up in the Contact column.
Thank you!
Genevieve

Will do. Thank you.

@Genevieve P. I am also experiencing some difficulty with current user permissions. I was wondering if there is an update. I wanted to use WorkApps as I learned that you don't have to give permissions in the data sheet to a person for them to see their assigned items (when using current user filter). But my team is unable to see any of their assignments. Any ideas? Columns are contact list.

I notice that you're part of the EAP program - is there a possibility that you're trying a new version of Workapps that is not yet released? The sheet functionality in a Workapp on the new version is different than the current version. I would recommend posting in the EAP private group regarding what your users are seeing.

@Genevieve P. Hello! I reached out the support team, and this was their response. Basically, the unlicensed user cannot be part of the current user filter in the WorkApp environment, BUT the fix is on the way… The strange thing is the report on the WorkApp works fine and only sheet, and I also found out recently that some other unlicensed users do not have this problem. I have not informed or inquire about this to the support team after my initial contact. Hopefully this will get resolved soon.
4/29/2024 Response from the Support Team below…
"It seems that the behavior you are seeing about the following issue: "Using the current user filter on a sheet, Unlicensed users that use the WorkApp to view the sheet with the current user filter applied do not see any rows. As per our Engineering team they have researched on this issue and found that this is not a bug and that the currentUser filter was never built for WorkApps users. However, they are planning a fix for this that is going to take a couple of months. I have kept an Escalation open with Engineering for tracking purposes and to provide an update once this is done so you are aware of."

Thank you @Makiko Joans and @Genevieve P. - Very interesting. So my question if WorkApps is not to be used with "current user filter" - how do we use the WorkApp effectively. It makes me feel that we would need to share the underlying sheet with these users which is what WorkApps is says one does not need to do. I appreciate your insights.

@Makiko Joans another question, you mentioned: "The strange thing is the report on the WorkApp works fine and only sheet." I'm not sure what you mean by works fine and only sheet. Do you attach the underlying sheet to the Workapp and give permissions on the sheet level to users or how did you do this?
Thanks
Cathy
