Can a Smartsheet Form Show information from a sheet?
Hello! I am very new to smartsheet and am trying to learn. My first project on smartsheet for my team is to develop a form that employees will use to check out and then back in an item while at work.
I've got the Check Out part done and have it feed to a sheet so that supervisors can monitor who has what. However, I don't know how I would do the check back in process with a form.
My idea is to have a drop-down menu asking the employee if they are checking out an item or checking it back in. If selecting checking in, they would see a list of items checked out by employees (presumably populated from the sheet) and they would mark that item as checked back in. Is this possible? and if so how would I go about doing this?
Thank you all!

Hi @Jsens19
In native smartsheet without ad-ons, APIs, etc. a form can only be used to add a row to a sheet. It can't pull any information from within the sheet (such as a list of checked out items).
You might want to look at an update request automation to achieve what you want. See:
These aren't as aesthetically pleasing or usable as forms but they do allow users to update a row. You could send an update request to anyone as they check-out an item and ask them to use that to check the item back in.
Good luck!
