When selecting attachments for an Automation Workflow, we should have the option to include all the attachments in the notification email instead of sending only the last attachment if it was attached after the last save of the sheet.

Yes this would be a nice feature to have... and they definitely have the technology...
However, I highly doubt we will ever see it added.
As I grumbled myself as well today wishing to locate the same feature - my guess it's a business decision that all comes down to what's the cost to transmit all that data and who pays for it. The bandwidth/cost to email URLs is microscopic. Compare that to potentially unleashing 10 million+ Smartsheet users using their site as an unlimited bandwidth email server.
Data storage and transmission all have costs, it's why your Smartsheet plan probably has a data storage limit unless your on the Enterprise edition.
I think in a similar fashion data transmission cost is the underlying reason why every email provider limits file size attachments and makes you send links to large your files.
Hey, here's hoping I'm wrong.
I'll chime in with my vote for better, enhanced workflow email capacity when attachments are involved.
My recipients are not Smartsheet users and are easily confused by all the Smartsheet wrappings. (Most won't even read the detailed instructions I have to include.) I already use a MacGyver hack with a second sheet just to trigger an Alert. But I have to go in and manually delete extraneous draft copies of a pdf to make sure that only the latest, final is included. THIS TOTALLY BUSTS THE NOTION OF APPLICATION AUTOMATION!!! I want an email where I don't have to share the sheet either - ALL the recipients need is the pdf. That's it!!!
If I have to manually adjust each and every single final Alert, I'm ready to dump Smartsheet. I'll go back to total manual operation. Why not?!?!?!? I will at least avoid confusing my recipients with all the Smartsheet gobbedleygook and give them exactly what they want - nothing but a simple email with a pdf!
I too would like to be able to have this function available.
After using a link on an approval automation the individual loses the ability to download an attached document, if forgotten to do so with the opened link.
I would like to be able to send an Alert email once a row is approved and the email to have the row attachments.
Just adding my frustration here to add all attachments (not changes) to a notification. I've seen this request came from 2019 already. Unbelievable that a standard request in 2024 has still not been considered. I've read about the workaround that you must put a request for an update to your end user, which seems completely unnecessary why I want someone to complete a request when I just want to give them an update?
I'll add my name to the list of not being able to add an attachment from a row to an alert needing to be added ASAP.
I'm running into a similar issue. I have a pdf document being auto generated for a row and need to have it sent to the requestor once it is generated. I had an automated notification workflow that was doing this but it does not seem to be working anymore. The notification is still being sent but the attachment is no longer included.
Below is the email that the requestor would previously receive.
Agree with the previous comments that allowing the attachments on a row to be sent via email from alert someone action in workflows would be a key feature. From research this possibly was viable previously so not sure why it was eliminated. Any timeline for when this would be added?
Any update on the ability to include an attachment with a subsequent workflow? I have an approval workflow that includes the attachment. When the attachment is approved, a second workflow kicks off to notify the person to send the file. It would be nice if the attachment (it is selected to include) was included with that email so the individual doesn't have to open the sheet and download the file. Seems to be an unnecessary step.
I suppose if there are multiple attachments to the row, the system will not be able to distinguish which one to send. That said, even it the notification included multiple attachments, the user would know which one is applicable to the task.
I know the system used to include the attachment, I had this functionality set up on another sheet and it worked when it was first set up, then it stopped working. Please consider restoring the functionality.
I mam having the same problem. I would really like to be able to automate the process of sending an email with the attachment without linking back to the sheet
Please. Please. Even if we cannot directly attach the file enable a clean, customer friendly - professional non-sheet, non-smartsheet branded link landing page for them.

To bring this further, I do understand the security need for not necessarily allowing native attachments. However, perhaps it could be only available for specific files? Like allowing PDFs, .docx, .xlsx, or other common document formats as attachable natively, while all others could use a link redirect? Or, could you provide direct linking to our own cloud storage providers as a passthrough instead?
Nothing new here, just want to add my vote for adding attachments via automated workflow.
Currently, attachments are only included in a notice if the attachment was changed at the time the automation ran. But, you cannot send via the alert automation a ticket or row summary that includes a pre-existing attachment. It would be great to have an option that is not change based.
Smartsheet explains that:
Attachment in Alerts notification are;
I would like the ability to send an email that includes a pdf attachment on a particular row when a box is checked.
I have a workflow with nearly 40 automations, half of which are email-based requests for updates with various sets of triggers. While I know the automations work, due to months of testing, when our system went live to the institution, I became very worried that the automations wouldn't run and I'd have no idea whether or…
Description: When users upload multiple photos in one action via the Smartsheet iOS mobile app, all files are assigned the same generic name and timestamp. This makes it difficult to identify individual photos and creates confusion in workflows that rely on accurate, unique file naming. Why This Matters: Industry Standard:…
I am proposing bringing a bit of pizzazz to Smartsheet by having celebratory animations for certain criteria. Think Joyful Animations in Outlook! My team was hoping to have some sort of confetti pop/gif/image when we close out a project or hit a milestone. Bonus points if it is configurable like the automations are.
