Resource Management - Connect to existing project option missing

I imported 20 projects into Resource Management via csv file and would like to tie them to smartsheet project plans. Usually there is a radio button option that allows you to connect to an existing project, but I don't see that anymore. Anyone else notice that option is missing? Importing the projects and connecting is significantly faster for me than creating a new one on each project plan.

  • Hi @Kayte Grigsby

Is there any chance that the projects were uploaded into a Resource Management account that has a different email from your Smartsheet account? Here's an article that may help: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2482585-troubleshoot-resource-mgmt-panel-connection

If this hasn't helped, you could open up a ticket with Smartsheet Support in the Support Portal with a screen recording showing your two different set-ups.

    Cheers,
    Genevieve

  • Thank you for your reply @Genevieve P.! Yes, I am using the same account.

I heard back from my Account Executive, and she said the product team suggests I change my process, because they think it's dangerous to connect to an existing project, which will delete the assignments in the existing RM project. However, at the time I am connecting it, there are no assignments in the RM project, it's just a much faster process than creating the project via Smartsheet, exporting the project list, editing the additional fields I want in RM, and then importing the list back in. I wish the option to connect was still available to those who understand what could go wrong, however, I can do it the slower way for now.
