Workflow Automation Run History/Log

Is there a way we can see a log of when workflow automations have run, and if there is a recipient for it, then to see which recipient(s) have received it & when?

    Hi @Dharitri

Currently, the only workflow with a log of its activity is the Update Request workflow. You can find the log by selecting the icon with two arrows and a checkmark on the right-hand toolbar. Here's an image for reference:

For other workflow types, you'll need to review how they are built to determine if they were triggered and sent.

For more details, you can refer to our Update Requests help article.

    I hope this information helps!

    Cheers,
    Isaac.

  • Hey Isaac,

Can you advise on the status of this feature request? I found a similar thread from Jan 2023 that said this was on Smartsheet's radar. https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/92632/log-automated-workflow-actions-on-the-activity-log/p1

The obstacle we are facing is 99% of the automations run successfully, but for the 1% of bug reports when a user says they did not receive an alert when they should have, we have absolutely no evidence from Smartsheet. It would be great in the activity log to be able to see what automation was run.

    Hi @wilsonwang!

Thank you for your feedback! I don’t have an update for you on this, but it’s good to hear your scenario. It would be helpful if you posted this on the linked Product Idea thread so the product team has your comment to review as well. If someone contacts you to say they haven’t received an alert, I would first check the following details:

    • When the workflow last ran (Manage Automations window)
    • The Permission settings on the Workflow
    • If the user is the one that made the change, how their personal notification settings are configured
    • And of course, Spam + Junk folders

If you’ve checked all of these details, you can contact Smartsheet Support with the Workflow ID and the Sheet URL, along with the destination user’s email, to have them investigate further.

    Thanks!
