Data range doesn't update in Dasboard

Hi,

I created my first dashboard and that works fine, however I have a few queries;

  1. Sheet 1 where data continuously gets added to it as new lines
  2. Sheet 2 (see image) that collates (using sum, …) data from sheet 1 that I use for the dashboard
  3. I created a dashboard from the second sheet

First question:

when i add more data to sheet 1, sheet 2 doesn't seem to add them as part of the calculations despite the fact I chose the range long enough in anticipation that more lines (data) will be added in sheet 1. I noticed that in sheet 1 those added lines are not been referenced to sheet 2.

Second question

why can we only select data that are adjacent. I want to display data from the first column with the data from the last column.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi @marcBelg67,

Relating to new data not being included in calculations, I would also suggest the same thing as @KlausNoah - to make sure you use full column references. This means that you would ensure that your references use for example “[Column 1]:[Column 1]”, rather than something like “[Column 1]1:[Column 1]20”. I’d also recommend converting your formulas to column formulas rather than drag-filling to subsequent rows, so that they apply to all rows in the sheet, including rows added after the formulas are created.

With chart widgets, you can chart only certain columns from the selected range. To do so, first select the entire range for the chart, then, in the Chart Widget settings panel, select Columns Included and check the boxes for only the columns you want to display - see this article for more information: Customize the format of your chart.

    Hope that helps!

  • Make sure formulas use full column references. Charts need adjacent data, so a helper sheet might do the trick. If it’s still stuck, refresh or reselect the range.

  • Hi,

    Sorry for my late reply.

I didn't do full column reference so I will have to work on that.

I need to replace with a formula that select (SUM) data for each of the years.

I will have to work on that part. I am sure once sorted it solves the initial problem.

    Thanks.
