Contact Format Changes - Affects Automation

For most users that have been in our Smartsheet account before, the format of the email address changes from "first.last@email.com" (even if they don't set up a profile)

to "First Last".

It still appears to be a contact but the automatic emails do not get sent unless I go to Edit Contact, remove the "First Last" and retrigger the automation.

It needs to recognize it as an email no matter what the format is. Is there something in the Admin where I can turn off the auto conversion to the "First Last" format for everyone?

Any suggestions? I have reached out to Smartsheet several times but do not get a response/resolution.

Thank you.

    hi @Amy Bedard,

It's very difficult for me to belive tha the name change (order of first nama/last name) would have any effect on automations if the email is not changed.

But as I never had such problem it looks like a bug that needs to be resolved with Support. I hope by now they already resolved it for you.

in the meantime you can make some tests by editing your contacts and trying to send automations to them to be sure that it's not the case.
