Automate Child Row Based on Parent Row
Hello SS community. I am curious to know if there is a way to update a child row based on a parent row.
My real world scenario is as follows. I move children rows physically on the page into one of 6 sections contained by parent rows.
When I move a row into the 'Completed' section, I would like the status column to change to complete.
Is this possible? I see many posts on how to update a parent row based on a child status, but not the other way around.
This would be so useful since sometimes items are moved around but the status neglects to be updated : /

There may be a few ways to do this, but here's a pretty simple one. Put the following formula in the Status column and it'll pull the value from the same column of the parent row:
=INDEX(ANCESTORS(), 1)
So you can move child rows from one parent row to another and it'll update that Status column accordingly.
