Link a summary sheet to multiple workplans
I'd like to be able to link to fields in a separate worksheet based on certain criteria. I'll give an example to try and explain:
I have multiple projects running concurrently; each has a separate project plan as they are shared with different stakeholders. Each project plan has an overall RYGB status, based on the 'worst' status of the project (ie 5 green and 1 red item = a red project), and this overall status is in the same cell of each project plan.
On the summary sheet, I'd like to be able to give this status next to each project name, looking like
- Project 1: G
- Project 2: R
- Project 3: G
Rather than manually using 'link from cell in other sheet' each time I add a new project, is there a way to do some kind of lookup to take the name of the project, then link to a specific cell (eg [status]1) in the sheet with that project name.
Is this just wishful thinking? I'm fairly new to smartsheet but I've gone through the community and help pages and can't find anything.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
To my knowledge there isn't a way to do this today but will probably be possible in a coming update. My suggestion would be to create a report to filter out the information that you need.
Would that work for you?
I hope this helps you!

Yes, as of right now, you cannot perform lookups or matches between sheets. Its rumored that this functionality is coming soon, but as of right now the only way to get data from one sheet into another is by cell-linking.
Reports will work and gather information from all of your sheets together into one report. See this article on Creating Reports.

In case someone runs across this post -- after Feb 2018, this is done using X-Sheet References:

I'm not seeing how to do this using x-sheet references. I'm looking to do the same thing (ex attached). 3 rows, 2 columns, each row pulling from a different sheet (one plan for each project). The project name is in the same cell on each project plan sheet and the status is in the same cell on each project plan sheet. How do I get all of them to show up in a single sheet like this?

Hi,
Did you get this resolved or do you still need help?
Have a fantastic week!
