Sending out Notifications with Attachments
Hi there,
I have set up Smartsheet so that when a Customer Order is fulfilled, the row of the Order is sent back to the Customer as an Order Confirmation. Also, we attach the Invoice for the Customer Order which should be sent back in the Order Confirmation. I have set up an alert which flags when a Notes Column is not Blank to send some of the columns in the Order Confirmation. Also included is the Attachments which is ticked.
Im being informed that the Order Confirmation that is being sent to my Customer is not showing the Attachment, which is pretty important in order for our Supply Chain to run as smooth as possible. Is there a reason why the Attachment would not show? Ive included a Screenshot to show the Order Confirmations going out to Customers, but the Attachment Column is not shown

Hi Andy,
Attachments will only be included in the notification if the notification rule is set to trigger specifically off of the attachments column. It's also important to note that only the attachments that have been added/updated will be included.
You'll want to configure your notification such that it's triggered based off of the addition or update of your invoice, then make attaching the invoice the last step in your process.
When you have a moment, please also submit a Product Enhancement Request (using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site) to let our Product team know that you'd like to have the option to include all attachments in a notification, regardless of whether the rule is triggered from attachments or not.

I have submitted an enhancement request as well as this is causing issues for us as well. I don't understand why there is an option to select to send attachments but they don't always get sent.

I have this same issue. The attachments don't always come through with the notifications. Are there certain attachment formats that wont come through?

This seems like such an arbitrary restriction. Why wouldn't you allow attachments to come through regardless of what initiated the alert?

I just followed the steps outlined above, and the attachment still isn't attached?

Any update on this? I would like to set up a sheet in advance with all the attachments that need to be sent out for each week of the year and then have them sent out when triggered by the date.

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment, but it's a great idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
As a possible workaround, you could use Update Requests instead because they will include all attachments on the row.

Thanks so much for the reply. I've submitted an enhancement request. I've also tried using the update request feature, but it confuses people since I'm not really asking for an update. I appreciate your help! We'll see if they finally add this feature soon.

You could change the subject and remove almost everything except the attachment field, and that might work better.

Is there a list of enhancement request that we can up vote? It makes zero sense that attachments only sent if changed. Why even offer it as an option if it isn't going to work this is idiotic.
