The sheet has numbers with a currency format. When a update request form is generated the currency format does not transfer.
From one Chris to another, it has always worked (and continues to work) for me.
In the image below, I've set a number of cells to specific currency formats, then sent an update request, updated the amounts (from 0) and then refreshed the sheet to show the changes.
The currency symbols are shown in the update form only as a guide. Deleting them does not affect the underlying cell format.
As you can see, I've left the Yen (¥) symbol in the CAPEX Budget field, but all the others I've overwritten e.g. OPEX Budget is now 5000000 instead of £5000000, yet the underlying cells are still formatted with the original currency formats.
Kind regards,
Chris McKay
I am also having this same problem as Chris Andersen, and the Currency format assigned in my sheet is NOT appearing in my entry form. I have assigned the $ number format to the entire column, not the cell because each row will need to be in currency format. Any help?
Hi @BigWaveDave
Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not possible at the moment, but it's an excellent idea!
The initial value shows with the currency, but not the updated one.

I hope that helps!

So, EVERY SINGLE TIME a form is used to fill in a column, I have to REFORMAT that column to show currency?
Because right now, my column is formatted for US Currency. I have a form that users fill out to fill in that column. However, the currency format isn't shown on the form. And then when the form is submitted, it updates the cell with the correct number, but the currency format has no been stripped for that one cell. So now I have to reformat the cell back to currency.
Is this the intended behavior?
Hi @DanPihlaja
I hope you're well and safe!
Here's a possible workaround or workarounds
Would that work/help?

That is working....except that the problem with workarounds is that it then puts the actual problem on the back burner and no one fixes it. As far as I can tell, this has been a problem with Smartsheet for more than 4 years. This should be a really easy fix on the back end.
Why isn't it fixed?
@DanPihlaja
Yes, it would be an excellent addition to Smartsheet features.
The best way is to let Smartsheet know and let others vote for it.
Please submit this as a Product Feedback or Idea (If it hasn't been added already) when you have a moment.

Are you guys owned by dassault systemes by any chance? This is the same way they do things....
I will try to do that. Thank you
No, Smartsheet isn't owned by Dassault, 😉
To clarify, I'm not a Smartsheet employee.
Happy to help!
Hi, "Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required." is the very first line in the body of every form I create. I don't remember seeing it before (unless you missed filling out a required field; then you would see the message). Is there a way to turn it off or change it? None of my forms are in English so the message is…
I have a sheet that I pull into a report. The report I then want to use to make a stacked bar chart and put into a dashboard if I can. The columns I am trying to make into a stacked chart are: Lead, project and phase. The issue is that there are several leads and I need the stacked bar chart to show in different colors for…
I have a dynamic view setup for a dashboard that has NO restrictions And on the Sharing tab, I have a Group that I created as the additional share access to the view But the individuals in the Group still cannot see the data from the dashboard. Am I missing something? Because when I share the view to them individually…
