Is there an ETA to add the ability to Merge Cells?

I need to be able to merge cells and I read the posts that it is not availble but "votes will be put in" for it. Is there an update? I can't imagine it would be very difficult to add the functionality and it would make managing projects in SmartSheet much easier.

 

Note: Changing the background color will not work as suggested in other posts.

Unfortunately, merging cells will be a fairly complex feature to build, so it has not yet been prioritized over other more highly requested features like dashboards, card view, images in cells, advanced notifications, email integration, etc.  We appreciate the input and I wish I had a better answer for you.
