Hi there,
Are there plans to offer a more robust backup solution for sheets? We are using the Command-line backup java utility (aka Backup Tool), and that works alright, but it’s not a true backup solution, as files cannot always be simply re-loaded back into Smartsheet have things be “just the way they were” when data loss or errors occurred.
For example, created-on, modified-on, cell linking, conditional formatting, and cell history (perhaps other objects that I'm not thinking about right now) are lost completely, row discussions cannot be restored with their native author, timestamp and threading, and attachments are downloaded with no reference to the rows they once resided upon.
Luckily, we haven’t had a total meltdown for some important sheets, but I can think of a few that if we lost them entirely by accident, there would be several days worth of dedicated clean up to get us back to just 80% of the data, and I am certain, due to the reasons above, that we'd never be able to put them back together with complete data retention.
If there is any efforts and developments going into something more robust in terms of Smartsheet backup, I’d love to know about it, and would love offer any more detailed scenarios if that would help.
Also, I submitted this quesiton to support and our account manager, and I'll share any relevant feedback I get on that side, if they're alright with it.
John
