Time Specific Tasks

You can use leads, lags, and duration in hours.
It gets complicated and difficult to cross check.
Smartsheet can configure number of hours in a work day.
Anything longer than 4 hours has a 1 hour break for 'lunch' at noon, local time.
Anything less than 16 hours starts at 8am.
And so on.
Currently, a pain to set up if you want to use dependencies.
I'm curious if anyone has solved this.

Thanks Craig,
Slightly surprised that a dedicated Project Management tool such as this, can't do times
I hesitate to say it and whisper it quietly on here, but increasingly heading back to other tools, even Excel (!?) )which at least I can configure to how I want it...
Cheers

Nick,
You are not alone.
For me, Smartsheet is a collaboration tool that can be used for projects, not a PM tool that is good at collaboration.
Everyone* looks at a table of columns and rows with a greyed border and thinks "spreadsheet". Everyone* looks at a Gantt chart and thinks "PM tool".
But that is not alway the case.
Most** projects aren't tightly coupled such that it matters that task 101 starts at 9am on Tuesday and takes 1.5hours before the next task can begin, and it better begin on time! Lately I've been running into projects that "next week some time, we need to send this document" -- you mean the document that takes 10 minutes to type and 0.25 minute to send? That document? Can't you promise to at least do it on Monday?
"No"
I'm ranting.
Back on topic: I feel your pain.
*Everyone - this is a gross over-exaggeration.
**Most - so is this.

+1 on this feature request. I need to be able to make items time specific, not just date specific. The items should be ordered according to time in the calendar view within smartsheet. And the same goes for the ical /google calendar feed : the items do not just show up as all day items, but as time specific items. Please let us know if that can be implemented any near time in the future.
