Dependent tasks should not be forced to follow
Hi all,
When 2 tasks are created and task2 is made dependent on task1, task2 is automatically moved so it follows directly the end date of task1, and there is no way I found so as to create a time gap between the 2 tasks.
My team often wants to work on yet another task, say task3 and have task3 worked in between task task1 and task2. And in order to have SmartSheet correctly organize the tasks I need to make task3 dependent on task1 (though they are not), and task2 dependent on task3 (though they are not). This really seems wrong to me.
Another use case where this forced following timing is wrong is when I have employees who go on holiday (these things happen).
So is there a way to have dependent tasks not be forced to follow one another?
Regards,
Antoine.

You can add some lag in the predecessor column by using a +x number of days.
163FS+10 will add ten days to start of the current row from the finish of row 163.
See screenshot for example.
