How to type > in body message in community

I can't type a greater than sign without it turning the line into a paragraph. If I copy and paste I can work around it, but it is a frustrating workaround. Anyone know how to do this easily?

The greater than symbol macro will be an adjustment for me, too. I've found that if you type out your formulas without a space before the symbol, like so>, the macro won't run. Then you can go in afterwards to add in the space (so it's correct for anyone copy/pasting). Like so > .
