Conditional Formatting Not Updating in Reports?

I'm finding that conditional formatting is not consistently updating in reports, and my staff are complaining about it. See for example below, the "Rollinson Downstairs..." task highlighted has no conditional formatting even though the date has passed. If I open the Rollinson sheet, it then updates and updates the report.

Shouldn't have to do this! Is this a known bug / issue?

It is because the sheet does not update TODAY() until the sheet is activated. Once the sheet is activated, it will update today's date and the conditional formatting will be applied where appropriate.

There are a few different options on how to activate the sheet. Are you able to provide more details as to exactly how everything is working together?

We have 1 sheet per manufacturing project (approx 100 active at any one time). All kept in a single workspace

There is then a report for each work centre, reporting on the tasks assigned to them by date

Then a dashboard showing the reports for each work centre (as they share a PC for viewing/updating)

Do you have any formulas using the TODAY() function?

Not specifically the TODAY() function but the conditional formatting is based on a date range (see below), perhaps this is using the same function in the background?

It shouldn't be working that way, but I believe there was recently someone else here in the Community having a similar issue.

Is it working for your other date based conditional formatting rules, or are they also not updating until the sheet is updated?

I have a similar issue with several fields with conditionnal formatting where the colours do not update in the reports until I go to the sheets, save them and go back to the reports. Is there a way to circumvent this?
